The Chord to Victory

LUN and the others want to form a band. CHEUNG introduces them to KEI who provides them an ideal place to play music. Though they dislike KEl who is very arrogant, they have to tolerate him. LAI's parents has died. She lives in her uncle's place. He treats her as servant. She learns to be very independent. She works part-time when she is studying so as to sustain herself. LUN meets LAI again. Conflict again arises. Misunderstanding between the two is deepened. Though SHAN loves TO a lot, TO dislikes him. His father wants to compensate. However, TO is very stubborn and is reluctant to use his father's money. TO earns a living with his own effort for all the years. TO eventually saves enough money to buy his favourite record. LUN carelessly breaks his record and flees away.

TO chases after LUN. He swears that he must make it fair. After the struggle, LUN flees away. K~M finds that KIN is lazy in doing needlework, he decides to lock him up as punishment. He orders him to practise hard. CHEUNG brings his friends to a sing-a-long. LUN sings for leisure. His singing talent is praised by the public. The boss of the Sing-a-long appreciates LUN' s singing talent and asks him to work as a professional singer in his Sing-a-long. LUN thinks that he is just joking, thus, he ignores his invitation. LUN is dissatisfied with KEl who is very arrogant. LUN keeps away from him. However, CHEUNG is greedy for his materialistic support. He tries his best to bring KEI and LUN together. KEI and LUN eventually reconcile. TO by chance knows LUN's where about through LA1. TO waits for LUN in the village entrance. He meets HI. She devises to drive him away……

LUN secretly lends WANG's car without his approval. He has a ride with YAU. Unexpectedly, he knocks down a rich lady's dog carelessly. They are being sent to the police station. LUN acknowledges that it is all his fault so as to help YAU get rid of the trouble. WANG thinks that LUN has damaged his car. He is very angry. New Year is coming soon. KIN and KAM go to collect the debts. Unexpectedly, the money is stolen by the pickpocket when they are on their way home. It incurs a great loss. KA~ then lies to the relatives that he will go back to his country during New Year. In fact, the whole family hides at home. TO again meets LUN. He chases after him but LUN again escapes away. The New Year's Eve is KIN's birthday. KIN's friends visit him and they find his family is in a difficult situation. They render help sincerely. LUN and KIN eventually reconcile……

TO bothers LUN and insists him to compensate his loss. They procure LUN some money. LUN agrees to take care AUNT HUNG. KIN finds that LUN does not care his turn away' plan anymore, especial after the incident. KIN then runs away by himself. They worry a lot for him but they still dare not to tell KAM the truth. KIN has no where to go, he stays in the Sing-a-long. They eventually find KIN. CHEUNG arranges KIN to live in KEI's place. KIN helps KEI to do the household work. It is not good to live in other's place. During AUNT HUNG's treatment, LUN and the youths are always together ith HUNG. HUNG is happy to see them. Friendship between LUN and TO starts. LUN and the others participate in the singing competition which is held by the Sing-a-long. They win the champion. They thus have more confidence in themselves.

CHEUNG, LUN and YAU celebrate. They pick a wallet in the street stall. They know that the wallet is belonged to a famous agent HUGO who has worked for few famous singers. They plan to send the wallet back so as to win his favour. They hope that he will agree to sign a contract with them. CHEUNG goes to HUGO's office. HUGO's secretary sends him away. CHEUNG is very disappointed. LUN meets LAI in KEI's home, LUN and LAI quarrel with each other. Misunderstanding is deepened between them. LUN and the others are employed to sing in the Sing-a-long. customers support them. MONA knows KIN through LAI. KIN is attracted by MONA who is very pleasant. They begin to go out with each other. KIN sometimes returns home and gives his father money. He knows that his father worries for him. KAM eventually faces the reality and agrees KIN to join the band. KIN then moves back home. One of the famous singers breaks off with HUGO. HUGO is very angry……

TAK SIN sees that LUN and his band can eventually have some performance, she sets at ease. However, she fears that WANG will object LUN. Thus, she conceals the truth from him. KEI involves in some troubles in the Sing-a-long. LUN immediately informs LAI to go bail for him. KEI even blames LUN who does not handle the situation properly. He hits LUN. LAI helps LUN and rebukes KEI. YAU is drunk. TO brings him home. Thus, they do not show up in the Sing? along to perform. LUN and KIN scold them, After a short period or contact, KIN and MONA become very good friends. YAU secretly admires a sales girl, MEI YING, in a department store but he lacks of courage to make friends with her. He pretends to be a customer and has bought many hair pins. LUN and TO know what YAU wants. They help YAU to make an appointment with YING……

LUN knows CHI during KEI's birthday party. He is attracted her beauty. He loves her in the first sight. He starts to chase her. In fact, CHI already has a finance in Singapore. She follows her rather to Hong Kong and meets LUN. She enjoys to be chased by the male, thus, she does not refuse LUN directly. LUN does not concentrate in singing because of CHI. Others warn LUN but he neglects. LAI knows that CHI will hurt LUN. She asks CHI to stop. CHI ignores LAI. CHEUNG is very lazy and is always absent from practising. HUGO is very dissatisfied with him and warns him several times. WANG by chance gets to know that LUN has organised a band. He is so angry that he has destroyed LUN's stuff related to his band. LUN is crazy and leaves home. LUN has nowhere to go and lives temporary in Ta's home. They understand each other more than before and the barrier between the two has eventual removed.

KEI loves CHI but she loves LUN only. KEI then hates LUN from jealous motives An executive producer from a Japanese recording company comes to Hong Kong. HUGO arranges LUN and the band to give a trial performance of singing. Unexpectedly, LUN, KEI and CHI go yachting on that day. KEI deliberately obstructs LUN's way. LUN is then absent for the trial. Their dream has been shattered. KEI still hates LUN a lot. He sends somebody to attack him. KEUNG witnesses the case and informs WANG. WANG sends him to the hospital. In order to chase CHI, LUN does not sing anymore. Other members of the band are also very busy on their own. They rarely practise. They eventually negotiate with HUGO to dissolve the band. CHI has to follow her father back to Singapore. LUN is willing to give up singing and goes to Singapore. He excuses that he aims at study. In fact, he only wants to stay with CHI.

LUN arrives Singapore. He lives in his elder sister's house. He tries to find CHI by all means but is in vain. He is very disappointed. CHEUNG and SUN become hawkers after the band has been dissolved. One day, they meet KEI who insults them. YAU always goes out with YING. He dare not to express his love towards her as he believes that he is not her ideal boyfriend. TO goes to a Chinese restaurant with AUNT HUNG. They meet YEE who has fainted there. TO gives her first-aid. Later, YEE's mother brings her away. TO has left a deep impression on YEE. YAU meets YING in a department store. YING is accompanied by a good? looking guy. YAU thinks that this guy is her boyfriend. YAU belittles himself and decides to give up YING. Later, YAU knows that the guy is only YING's elder brother. He is then brave enough to tell YING his love. Since then, he does not belittle himself and works diligently so as to recompensed YING's care and concern……

TO and YEE join the same singing competition. They perform on the same stage. TO wins the champion and YEE wins the first runner-up. TO takes this opportunity to introduce himself to YEE. He starts to get acquainted with YEE. YAU and KIN get the chance to join a band in Okinawa. They are very excited. HUGO appreciates TO and YEE's talent. He signs a contract with them. They are very excited and happy. When SHAN has known that TO develops his career in singing, he does not stop him. He is very lenient to TO. YEE was brought up in an orphanage. A rich merchant, KAN K&M CHUEN and his wife adopted her when she was five years old. Since then she has got rid of poverty. She tries her best to do everything as she does not want to become poor again. KIN backs to Hong Kong. MONA and KIN soon become very good friends. Once, they to fishing. They stay together overnight because of the storm and rain……

LUN is disappointed in love. He decides to leave Singapore and backs to Hong Kong. LUN attends KIN's wedding. They feel very strange but dare not to question him the detail. HUGO helps TO and YEE to become the popular singers in the singing world. The relation between the two has also improved a lot. LUN, LAI, KIN and MONA go to outlying island during vacation. LUN quarrels with LAI. LAI is nearly drowned to death. MONA tells LUN that LAI had witnessed her parents drowned to death when she was young. LUN feels very sorry and pities her. HUGO wants to form a band. He invites CHEUNG to join. However, CHEUNG refuses as he has to manage his jeans wear business. HUGO then invites TO to join the band.

Winners' appears with a heal thy and young image. They gradually become very popular. KEI is still very angry with CHEUNG. He traps CHEUNG and makes them fly to the Middle East. It incurs CHEUNG and his brother a great loss in their business. LUN is very angry with KEI who is so cunning. He bursts into KEI's house and tries to hit him. However, he mistakenly hurts LAI. LAI is then being sent to hospital. LAI has seriously injured and nearly becomes blind. LUN feels very sorry and takes care of her. LAI goes to buy a pair of contact lens after she has recovered. She changes her 'Big Spectacle' image and becomes very pretty. LUN starts to date LAI.

With LUN's help and support, CHEUNG strengthens himself and is determined to develop the China market. WANG knows that LUN has become famous in the singing field. WANG is soft at heart but is firm at mouth. He does not praise LUN before him. WANG rescues a child on the road and is knocked down by a lorry. He is then being sent to hospital. Though his life is not in danger, he cannot work anymore. LUN's family has lost their main financial support. LUN is then in a dilemma. He wonders whether he should give up singing. Unexpectedly, WANG insists LUN to continue singing. He believes that LUN will success one day. He wants LUN to achieve his goal. The relations is between the father and son has improved. LUN is more confidence in himself. TO knows that LUN is in financial difficulty. He asks SHAN to help LUN. LUN then knows Ta's personal history. LUN pretends that he only wants to compete with KEI for LAl. LAl likes LUN all along……

FUNG has separated from SHAN years ago. She stays in America. FUNG and SHAN are husband and wife in law. She depends on AUNT HUNG to contact TO. She does not want to face SHAN. FUNG knows that TO has some achievement in career. She backs to Hong Kong to visit him. She sees that SHAN does care TO, she is then set at ease. HUGO sees that LUN and TO become more popular. He warns them to be careful in dealing with their girlfriends. They begin to feel under constraint. SHAN is getting old and he decides to retire. Fortunately, CHIU is smart and capable. He can become SHAN's successor. SHAN has a partner is business who is KEI's father, FOK TSUEN. He is cunning and mean. He waits upon a chance to seize SHAN's fortune. YEE requires high living standard. She urges TO to earn more money. However, TO makes light of money and enjoys life. He holds a different opinion from YEE in this aspect……

SHAN meets FUNG. They have a casual chat and dare not to discuss about their marriage. PING stays in SHAN's place. She hopes that she can win SHAN's heart one day. However, she eventually finds that SHAN is still missing FUNG. She tolerates silently. LUN does not want to leave LAI, he implores LAI to stay with him. LAI is in a dilemma and does not give him an answer. KEI destroys SHAN's business step by step. He speaks ill of CHIU in order to spoil SHAN and his son's relation. SHAN is trapped and is dissatisfied with CHIU. In order to meet YEE's demand, TO forces himself to concentrate in gaining money. He then has no time to entertain his friends and is very unhappy. YEE notices his sorrow and knows that he concentrates more on his friends than girlfriend. YEE is reluctant to sacrifice herself to the unstable love. Moreover, a rich merchant is trying to chase her. The relation between TO and YEE has cooled down……

LUN's financial status has become more stable. He buys a new flat for the family. WANG sets at ease. KAM CHUEN's business is declining. He hopes that YEE could marry a rich man so that he and his wife could have better living at their old age. One day, KIN is choked with a bone in the throat. It affects the programme recording. They begin to consider their future if 'Winners' would have been dissolved. TO is good-looking and charming. Many girls are crazy for him. He does not refuse them. YEE feels very insecure. Moreover, TO cannot satisfy her materialistic need. YEE thus accepts the rich merchant. LUN is very popular. The magazines rumour LUN's love life. LUN is vexed by that. LUN is very unease. He decides to tell LAI his feeling. The relation between the two is even better than before. LAI is also willing not to disclose her identity of being LUN's girlfriend.

CHIU is aware that SHAN has lost confidence in him, he decides to quit. SHAN knows that CHIU is determined to leave, he feels very disappointed. TO and YEE go to the outlying island during holiday. They encounter a storm when they are on the boat. TO falls into the sea and faints. He is being sent to hospital. TO expresses that he cannot lose YEE when he awakes. YEE falls into a dilemma. SHAN lies that FUNG has already left Hong Kong so as to set PING at ease. Unexpectedly, PING has known the truth and quarrels with SHAN. SHAN cannot support the blow and is suffered from heart-attack. He is very ill. SHAN cannot manage his business. TSUEN gains the chance to squeeze his money. CHIU and FUNG discover and try their best to remedy the situation. After consideration, YEE decides to leave TO. TO suffers a great blow. He implores YEE to stay but is in vain.

CHIU tries to cancel those contracts which are signed by TSUEN but is in vain. He then plans for other big business in order to re strengthen his family business. KEI is frustrated with incessant blows. He cannot recover and strengthen himself. He depends on drugs to narcotize himself. Once, he is overdose with drugs and becomes a plant. TO is disappointed in love and does not concentrate in work. He proposes to HUGO to cancel the contract. Others persuade TO but are of no use. FUNG wants to facilitate SHAN and PING, she agrees to sign the divorce paper and leaves Hong Kong. 'Winners' will dissolve soon. LUN arranges to develop his career in Taiwan. YAU and CHEUNG are addicted to gambling. They lose a lot. Others lend a helping hand. 'Winners' holds a farewell concert. Meanwhile, the typhoon signal No. 8 is hoisted .........
