Leigh encounters another young widow in grief group who makes her insecure about the way she expresses her emotions, and forces her to reckon with how well she knew her husband.

Leigh finds a stray dog, which brings back memories of the dog she shared with Matt. These memories track major milestones of their relationship and provide the clue which lets her unlock Matt's phone passcode.

Upon unlocking Matt's phone, Leigh discovers 17 unheard voice messages. As she delves into them, we launch into an episode entirely from Matt's perspective, culminating in the final days of his life.

Determined to take back her life, Leigh throws herself a last-minute birthday party, inviting everyone she knows, and blurting out a question to Danny that cuts the night short.

Despite Danny's warnings to leave his mother out of her search for answers, Leigh reaches out to her mother in law for the first time since Matt's death.

Leigh is desperate to get through her best friend's wedding without falling apart. To her surprise, the day is as difficult for Danny as it is her, and their bond culminates in an intimate moment that shakes Leigh to her core.
